Channelling a bedroom-pop quality reminiscent of the likes of Phoebe Bridgers and Gracie Abrams, Cloe Wilder’s latest release exudes a nostalgic charm that showcases an air of maturity beyond her age.

The track reminisces on teenage rebellion with “Stars in my eyes here we go, honey, take a risk, make a bet”. The vivid lyricism paints a picture of youthful liberation, crafting a masterfully introspective and uplifting track.

"When I turned 17, I thought it was time to get a fake ID,” Wilder recalled. “It was my only ever act of rebellion. I wanted to write a little story around it.”

“For the most part, it's a real thing that ended up happening in my life, but I think the whole song more represents my timeline of being 17,” she continued.

Wilder’s vulnerability in her lyrics takes us on a cathartic sonic journey that sparks a deep sense of familiarity. Embodying youthful defiance, the track is underscored by a mature understanding of shared experiences that creates a tangible connection with the listener. The composition of catchy, heartfelt lyricism and a refined, resonant sound achieves an effortless and beautiful quality.

With inspirations of Lana Del Rey and Bon Iver ringing throughout her work, the raw and open lyrics in Wilder’s Fake ID showcase the finest intimate storytelling.
