Colourful rock explosions and atmospheric pop hooks rule over Caesar On A TV Screen, the latest single by London indie rock group The Last Dinner Party.

The five-piece recently concluded their introductory year, being handed the BRIT’s Rising Star Award 2024 and named Rolling Stone UK’s Rising Stars of 2023. Marking their fifth release, this power-filled, anthemic single is a prophecy of another transformative twelve months to come.

Oozing with strength, Caesar On A TV Screen hints at what we can expect from their upcoming debut album, Prelude to Ecstasy, which will be released on February 2.

“Ecstasy is a pendulum which swings between the extremes of human emotion, from the ecstasy of passion to the sublimity of pain, and it is this concept which binds our album together,” said the band.

“This is an archeology of ourselves; you can exhume our collective and individual experiences and influences from within its fabric. We exorcised guitars for their solos, laid bare confessions directly from diary pages, and summoned an orchestra to bring our vision to life,” they continued.

The group welcomes us to a reflective beat where embryonic power looms, interlacing a haunting atmosphere with witty lyrics that speak of the buzzing confidence we can dress ourselves up in: “When I put on that suit, I don’t have to stay mute. I can talk all the time ‘cause my shoulders are wide”.

The track oscillates seamlessly between swelling moments of yearnful, raw guitar flourishes and steady-standing beats, all underscored by masterful tempo changes and a charged rhythm of conviction.

Breaking away from the bloodline of the track, “I’ll be Caesar on a TV screen”, an explosive ending sees the tune arrive at a cathartic mantra of “I am Caesar on a TV screen, champion of my fate”.

Delivered is a self-affirming proclamation of confidence under scrutiny, a herald to the group’s dizzying new reign over the music scene, and the waves of adoration they have garnered along the way.

Sold-out shows at London’s Roundhouse and Bristol’s The Fleece will mark the beginning of a highly anticipated run of performances for the band. The group will also tour record stores across the United Kingdom before heading out on their European tour in late February.

Caesar On A TV Screen’s unique colours of theatrical expression, punchy rock motifs, and courageous lashings of assurance set The Last Dinner Party on the throne as one of the greats.

The Last Dinner Party’s debut album ‘Prelude To Ecstasy’ will be available on February 2 via Island Records, and is available to pre-order now.
