“Laced with delicious madness”: Luvcat drops new single ‘Dinner @ Brasserie Zedel’

Luvcat, an emerging indie artist, recently released their third single Dinner @ Brasserie Zedel on October 31st to the great anticipation of their ever-growing fanbase.

The song tells the tale of an obsessive love, one that is not necessarily mutual but is addictive all the same. Luvcat once again creates their familiar femme fatale architype, laced with bloodlust over candlelit dinners and a delicious madness for listeners to feast on. Dinner @ Brasserie Zedel is Luvcat’s best murder ballad yet, blurring the lines between reality and the surreal whilst only enticing listeners further with it's theatrical charm and a deadly love.

The song opens with the flat notes of an electric guitar giving the song a dark romanticism, like the single is taken from a great tragedy rather than the indie venues it is performed in. Standout lyrics, ‘and the violins swell, like they’re weaving a spell, and it sounds like she’s falling in love’ give the song an air of whimsy amongst the overall gothic. Jazz bars ‘red-lit’ and bathed in sensuous smoke come to mind, like dancing though a fallen world with an unrequited lover to the chilling notes of a spectral orchestra making the single perfect for it’s Halloween release date.

The deep brass instruments and pounding drumbeat which are layered within the chorus are decadent and grandiose, bursting the song open into a gothic circus of twisted romance and French cigarettes. The lyrics, ‘when are you gonna make me your baby? You know I belong in your arms’ convey that she is consumed by her obsession for this person: they are the motive to her madness.

Haunting piano melodies in the final chorus bring a delicateness back to the song, marking a descent into total madness when the instruments snap back to life. The intoxicating outro of powerhouse vocals and staccato notes immerse listeners into the mad tea party of Dinner @ Brasserie Zedel. The single ends on the high of wild vocals and her tragic downfall into desperate infatuation.

So go and check out Dinner @ Brasserie Zedel and Luvcat’s other singles to join the haunting revelry for yourselves.
